In this self-portrait photography series, I explored the interplay of colors and lighting to create visually captivating images. The primary color palette included blue, turquoise, purple, and pink, chosen for their vibrant and dynamic qualities. These hues were enhanced through the use of the bokeh effect, adding a dreamy, blurred background that accentuated the subject.

To achieve a unique aesthetic, I incorporated unnatural lighting effects, experimenting with various light sources and angles to create striking contrasts and highlights. The emphasis on maintaining pure skin tones added a touch of realism amidst the surreal lighting and colors. A notable feature of this series is the use of reflection effects, particularly in glasses, which added an extra layer of depth and complexity to the images. These reflections played with the surrounding colors and light, creating interesting visual echoes. Self-portraiture posed significant challenges, as it required meticulous attention to light setup, camera composition, clipping, detailing, and posing—all done solo. This self-staging aspect added a layer of difficulty but also allowed for complete creative control and personal expression.

The project was inspired by the works of Brandon Woelfel, known for his experimental use of bokeh, depth of field, color, and lighting. Woelfel’s influence is evident in the creative techniques and stylistic choices employed throughout the series, aiming to capture a similar enchanting and ethereal quality.
